The Heida Hermanns International Music Competition is dedicated to the discovery of the most promising musicians between the ages of 19-30. Founded in 1972 by famous pianist, teacher and philanthropist, Heida Hermanns, the Competition presented its 45th edition on November 5-6, 2016 at The Unitarian Church in Westport, Connecticut.
An esteemed jury screened audition video recordings of 63 applicants from around the world. From these initial screenings, 16 contestants were invited to compete for cash prizes and other awards, as well as professional recognition necessary to launch a successful concert career.
In this two-day event, the selected competitors performed in a Semi-Final round on the first day and six were invited to perform in the Finals round on the following day.
◼︎ The live Semi-Final Rounds were held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 10AM – 3PM.
The Semi-Finals featured 16 vocalists. Saturday was free and open to the public.
◼︎ Six Finalists performed on Sunday afternoon beginning at 2PM. The Finals Concert was a ticketed event, which included an informal reception while the judges deliberated.
