Hailed as “a gifted tenor” (China Daily), Lucas van Lierop is a versatile singer, performing in operas, oratorios, and song recitals. As both a Dutch and Canadian citizen he has performed with many premiere ensembles and artistic organizations, including Yale Opera, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, The Vancouver Opera, Opera Theatre Connecticut, and I Sing Beijing. Last summer Lucas participated in the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme in Aldeburg, England where he sang in masterclasses for Andreas Scholl. Lucas’ studies in Britain were generously funded by the Canadian Aldeburgh foundation. This summer, Lucas worked with Graham Johnson at the Vancouver International Song Institute, on early Schubert repertoire, and at Festival Sablé, again with Andreas Scholl. Lucas is currently studying at the Yale School of Music where he is pursuing a Masters of Musical Arts in Opera Performance under the guidance of professors Richard Cross and Doris Yarick Cross.
